Thread: Vegas: Crop, Rotate, Resize & Move

Hello. First post here.

Let's say there's a clock that has been filmed crookedly in one video. I would like to place the clock, 12 at the top, in the top right corner of another video. To help illustrate exactly what I want, here are a couple of pics.

And this is how I want it.



I've already played around with Pan and Crop. However, I can't get the result I'm looking for. I can get the clock, 12 at the top, over the correct video, but it takes up the whole clip. In other words, it needs to be resized, but I can't figure out how.

I'm in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8. Thanks for any help!

Use Track Motion. I have it in VMSP6, so you MUST have it. TM allows us to position AND size within a Frame.

Other, more complex and separate renders to retain the Alpha Channel are available, but if you get the quality you want with Track Motion, I'd use that. TM is located within the Track Header.

And you'll need the cookie cutter to cut out just the clock face.
If it is not a rectangle or an elipse, you'll need bezier masks (availabe in Pro only) or to create a mask in a drawing package and use that. Possible but not a biginners task.

Ah. I played around with Track Motion very briefly and did not realize that I could resize the video as well. Thanks for that. And the region is circular so the cookie cutter effect worked perfectly! Thanks!

Since we're all here one quick question. What's the difference between 'Media FX' and 'Video Event FX' ?

A] 'Media FX'
Application: FX added to the Media within the Project Media Pane.
Result: Where EVER that Media is used it will have that FX already applied to it.

B] 'Video Event FX'
Application: FX added to the Event on the Timeline.
Result: Where EVER that Event appears on the Timeline the FX remains with it

I always use "B" - I can't/don't think I have EVER used "A"?
