I am editing a video for an community, and I need to do the following (direct quote from the script): "edit in a warm breath of air escaping from the body." There is a soldier with a gasmask lying on a floor, so I need some sort of an effect that looks like described in the script. I am posting this in Sony Vegas section because Sony Vegas is the only editing software I am using at the moment. So, is it possible with Sony Vegas?

Sony Vegas doesn't include anything like this.

What you need is another video of the "breath" filmed with a transparent backgrond which you can overlay in Vegas.

You may find stock footage (try Digital Juice) but much more fun is to create your own using a particle generator.

One very popular product is "Particle Illusion". I believe you get a fully functional 30 day trial so that may be all you need.

I've done a bit of smoke using BluffTitler which, as its name implies, is a titling program, but it also has a rudimentary particle generator in it.
