Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Losing the loop!

Hi,

My little trips along the timeline would be a hell of a lot more enjoyable if that flaming loop thingy wouldn't keep rearing it's ugly head!
It seems like every time I click on, or move something, the dreaded blue box is created again!
Is there an option to turn off this fascinating little feature?

Thanks.
Mike.

If the regions are the green "flags", they're not a problem.
It seems that if I click in any way that's not bang on the money, a loop is created with a blue box and yellow arrows at the ends.
There are a couple of loop options in preferences, but unchecking the boxes doesn't seem to make any difference.

The only thing I can think of is you're constantly creating a selection. But you have the loop option enabled. Press "Q" and you blue should turn to grey.

Of course I may have entirely misunderstood.

The yellow flags and blue highlight is the selection area.

Just place the cursor where you want and press the left mouse button you just get a cursor and no highlighted bit. if you drag the cursor then you get the highlighted section.

It is handy to highlight bits as you can then use to cut and paste clips, play selections or use it to please regions by pressing R

if you pres 0 (ZERO) you can play a 2 second piece of the time line

If you use the "BACK KEY" you can return to previous regions

You can access your Preferences to have the LOOP collapse - until you need it:

Options | Preferences | Editing | 3rd down "Collapse loop region . . . "

The other "tip" to add to Cheemie's is that you CAN increase or decrease the time under the 0 ZERO on the Number Pad. ZERO is a great way to easily Preview that area you want to do and move on.

And just to reiterate, it's only BLUE if looping is on. Press "Q" to toggle it on/off.

Thanks for the replies, very useful information!

Stupid as it may sound, I think I may have a problem with my cordless mouse!
It seems to be too sensitive, all of a sudden. If I click a back button, I travel back two steps instead of one.....weird!

Any slight sideways movement on the timeline (anywhere), with the mouse will see the dreaded blue box make another appearence.

Checking that collapse loop button doesn't appear to do what I want either.
I'll have another fiddle about.

Thanks again,
Mike.
