Hi I'm new so I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right section, so staff please move it if need be.

I just recently got Sony Vegas Platinum Edition 9.0 and want to know how to overlay i.e. place text, pics or video clips inside my main video track and how to time the effect. I've tried to master this on my own and all the tutorials on youtube thus far haven't shown it very well.

Can anyone explain it to me or link me to a good tutorial? I'd be very grateful!

Track number one will be over track number 2 and number 2 over 3 etc.. If you right click you'll see a dialog box show up.. Click insert generated media.. Pick text, when you're done just place it where you want on the timeline.

Ok, I think i can help here. I dont know much about SV but I can do this. To overlay you will need an new video track.

To insert a new video track you have three options

1) right clicking, this will give you the option to insert new video
2) Insert drop down menu ------> Video track
3) Press CTRL / SHIFT / Q

Once you have the new video track, right click inside this and you will be given futher options such as 'Insert Text Media'. Make sure this track sits about the initial video if you want the text to be visible. To do this just click and drag.
