Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Resizing a still image

I've been hired by a guy to work on his project. I'm used to Final Cut Pro but he has Sony Vegas 7.0. I need to figure out how to resize a still image (e.g. a powerpoint slide) so it fits off to the side of the screen much like you might see on the news. The guy I'm working for lost the manual and the training tutorial CD. I downloaded the manual but I couldn't find anything relating to my problem. Thank you for your help.

I'm guessing you have the clip on the time line already. On the far right of that clip on the timeline there should be three buttons: Genarated Media...., Event Pan/ Crop, and Event FX... Theres two different ways of doing this:

-First-
1. Click on Event Pan/Crop
2. An window should come up with the still of the image
3. Left click and hold one of the corner/side squares and pull it away from the direction of the still
4. Once you get it to the size you want it, click anywhere, eccept on the center circle, and drag the outlined line around place it where you want it to be

If that doesn't work and the whole image isn't showing up on the screen, then try this on

-Second-
1. Click on Event Pan/Crop
2. An window should come up with the still of the image
3. Left click and hold one of the corner/side squares and pull it away from the direction of the still
4. Once you get it to the size you want it, click "Compositing Mode"(green square) on the left side bar next to the timeline of that clip
5. select the top one "3D Alfa Source"
6. In that same bar click on "Track Motion..."
7. The track Motion" window should come up and there'll be a square with a sphere
8. Drag that square around like -First- step for 4
9. Your done

A bit like hiring a plasterer to do your plumbing.

The track motion option is just what I needed. Thank you. Greatly appreciated.
