My computer shuts down/dumps all memory when I try and open a project on vegas movie studio 9. I have windows vista, maybe that has something to do with it. I was thinking it could be because of all the background activity of vista, any thoughts?

Also, try looking at the Event Viewer and see if it posted anything at the time of the dump; probably not, but it's worth a look.

Sounds like a sick PC to me.

ok so i jotted a few things down while i watched my screen turn blue again. One thing was "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT", which doesn't sound good. It also advised me to "disable bios memory options and disable caching or shadowing" ... Can anyone translate this for me?

I think your PC needs medical attention - possibly a buggered driver.
