Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default is there a way to get Pan/crop to follow timeline?

I like to do my panning in the program rather than in the camera. but it is very hard to go back and forth from the pan/crop box to the timeline to see where I am. They don't seem to scroll together even when I click the little lock. Is there a way to get them to move together?

thx

Not sure i get exactly what you mean - are you keyframing?

Dont forget that pan / cropping DRASTICALLY wrecks the quality of the video unless it is slight or you are using hi res stills.

I am using HDV and it looks fine.. I use moderate zooms. Yes, I am keyframing and it is hard to figure out where to put the keyframes because it doesn't seem to move in real time.

Does it do this in real time if you try it with standard def. I ask this because I put together a video wall with 25 audio and 25 video tracks + background and there was no way the preview could keep up (I didn't expect it to). Eventually it would catch up so I could see a "snapshot" of frames in key places.
HDV requires a LOT of processing to decompress - even before you apply any pand & crop or other effects and I'm wondering whether you're just seeing the effects of this - the preview not being able to keep up.
Does it catch up eventually?
What happens if you render?
Can you do a RAM preview?

Also what setting do you have your preview window at. Try preview-auto.
