DVD Architect Help

Well, I've been messing around with it lately, so I'm basically a newbie at it. Well, whenever I want to insert a file in it says I have to convert the AVI to a different type. Which I did, but than when I insert the file in (I use 8.5GB DL Discs), it says the file takes up 99% of the DVD! Can anyone help me with this? The file size is only like 350mb.
