Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Question Vegas 7 wont allow video capture

This is strange. I have captured lots of video to date. I am trying to capture my latest tape (pana gs180) and it says that the camera is either not on or in use by another program. It is picked up by the PC as I can capture via windows movie maker. I am using firewire. The capture screen comes up. I have all the settings correct. If i turn the camera off and then on the capture screen displays microsoft dv or vcr but I then get the blue preview is off screen. Is their a registry setting or something that may have become corrupt.
Please help. (im in the UK and want to edit travel footage).
PS
The only things that came up the first time I tried to capture this tape was(the capture program was not shut down properly the last time.)or words to that effect.

Thanks Geoff

managed to solve the problem from another site. The fix was as follows

Found this fix on another site:
Go to start, run,
type in:
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll
hit enter
(note: must be a space between regsvr32 and the first % sign.)
Got an OK box, and everything works great!
All programs capture and preview no problem!
