Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default highlighting text

hi guys, you know in videos when you have a text document and certain key words are highlighted by shadowing or blurring out the rest of the text and perhaps zooming in the key sentence or whatever ( this is done on the news a lot). How can I go about doing this in Sony vegas.

Thanks.

The way I'd do it....(until someone shows me or I come up with a better way)
Put your text image on T2 & T3
T3 add a Brightness & Contrast effect & reduce contrast (it's nice if you fade this)
T2 add a Pand & Crop Bezier mask around the text you want to highlight (with a feather if desired)
Make these both child tracks of T1
Set the PARENT Composite mode of T1 to Source 3D and use PARENT tack motion to move the whole image for zooming etc - this part seems pretty processor intensive so be patient when lining arranging the layout in the preview window.

You could also do the track motion on tracks 2 & 3 and not have them as child tracks, but you'd have to get the track motion identical.

Let us know how you get on.

Edit:

No need for 3D Source Alpha on parent track. Just use Source Alpha and change the Height/Width in parent track motion.
