Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

If you're using Pro 8.0a, there's a known problem with importing AC3 audio. Upgrade to 8.0b.

That's interesting Andy. I have 8.0b and Vegas will not let me import ac3 files (even those created with Vegas). They don't appear in the Vegas Explorer window and are not listed under all the different media types in the drop down.
I just assumed you couldn't import them.

Tim,

I should have been a bit clearer. There was a known issue with importing AC3 audio streams in MPEG2 files in 8.0a. I would add media to the timeline and get video but no sound. This was fixed in 8.0b.

However, I notice on my work dekstop installation of Vegas if I render out audio only to an .AC3 file, I can't then seem to re-import it (which seems slightly bizarre). I'll do some further checking.

Andy,
Thanks for the clarification. Seems like a "feature". I've searched the Sony forums but there's no mention.
