Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Question Multiple Clips at once

Hello everyone. I use Sony Vegas 7.

I don't know if you guys watch top gear or not, but in the intro there are several different tracks playing at the same time. I would like to be able to take, say 4-5 clips, key them to kinda fly in and situate in an organized manner and play at the same time. I have read that sony vegas 8 has the multi-cam feature but I don't want to fork out the duckets for V8.

I tried searching around the cluttered mess of things called the "internet" and found nothing helpful. I have not been to school for photography or videogrophy, and cannot even think of the term used for such editing so I will just call it multi cam? Anyways any useful info will be put to good work

Thank you
SS

If you mean the FULL Vegas7 edition, and you are NOT editing MULTI-feed events then you will NOT need VP8 to do what you want. MultiCam is for editing the input of the SAME event from MORE than one camera in realtime. Do you have multiple feeds of the exact SAME event? You don't say?

This is NOT multi-cam this IS multi-track or Track Motion. In essence what you would be doing would be to place each separate Event on a separate track and using "TRACK MOTION" manipulate there relative position in Preview. You do this by clicking on the Track Motion Icon within the the Track Header.

Get back here if you have further questions.

Yes sorry for leaving the part out that I use Sony Vegas 7 PLATINUM full edition bought from best buy.

Like I stated earlier, I do NOT know the correct term for the technique I want to do. But I do not think sony vegas 7 platinum allows more than 2 or 3 video feeds?

So lets start out with 2 clips. I want on on top other on bottom, then I want them to swith to side by side left/right. Do i go to pan/crop, size them correctly then move them about? I do not know what the track motion thing is unless thats pan/crop.

I am at work now and wont be able to test for a few hours yet. But if there is any more helpful info please add=to.

No, track motion is not Pan/Crop. First thing to do is look in the help file for Track Motion.

You'll discover a world of possibilities with TM that allows you to re-size and move stuff around at will.

Thank you!!! track motion is exactly what I needed!!!

One thing though.. Is there a way to have more than 3 video rendering tracks?

I have text, video overlay, and video which allow me to add video clips.. no more?

any ways to add more?

You can have up to four video and four audio tracks in Vegas Movie Studio/Platinum. Pro allows an "infinite" number.

To add a track, right click on a track header area (left of timeline) and select Insert Video Track OR
Menu Insert | Video Track OR
Ctrl-Shift-Q
