Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default sony vegas 7 problems, virtual memory/rendering, need help please!

Hey there, i was wondering if someone could possibly help me?

alright, soo since a couple of days back, everytime i open up sony vegas it has been giving me problems. It has bee shutting off more often than before, and when i try to render something, it shuts off and a windows message comes up saying that its low on virtual memory and some programs will be denied during this time, and my program shuts off.

now i do know that:

- none of my clips are corrupt b/c i have tried rendering it a few times and every time it will stop in a different place. i have also tried rendering other videos and it does the same exact thing, in different places.

- i realize that the virtual memory alert can come up as an effect of other programs running at the same time. I have checked to make sure all other unnecessary programs aren't running (including background programs) that i dont need.

-I know that it is my sony program b/c it only happens when i run it.

I dont know why all of a sudden it started to do this, i've checked everything i could do but it still does this. and even when i'm not rendering, just working on a video, in like 10 minutes it will encounter an error and shut off.

I've gone into my computer, set the properties of virtual memory to system managed size, and it helped for a bit, but its back to the same thing again.

i have 512 MB of RAM on my computer

i may have missed something, i dont know. the only way i could think of maybe fixing the problem now is uninstalling and reinstalling the program?

I would really appreciate some help asap...b/c i need to get this video rendered for a deadline -_-

Have you checked how much memory you have left on your hard drive? I'm pretty sure that virtual memory comes from the hard drive not the ram, so try freeing up some space.

Make sure the virtual memory is in auto in windows so it adjust automatically.
See if you can do a restore to the date before the problems and see what has changed,
You can re-boot Vegas back to the default settings if you holed the SHIFT key when firing it up, you WILL LOSE all settings.

Try an un-install and re-install
