Hey,

Im working on a friends holiday video which was shot on a Sony Handycam which records direct to its own hard disk. I'm used to working with Adobe Premiere pro but it struggled to play the footage (something to do with how the camera compresses video or the codec it uses) and i was told that Vegas would handle the footage a lot better.

So i brought vegas and transferred all the cameras clips to my pcs hard drive. Vegas plays the files fine but it doesn't play any sound at all and i cant see any audio on the time line.
When I open the raw footage in the default player (intervideo windvd) it plays the audio fine so i know its there.

Anyone know what i should do? I have to get this finished in the next few days which is impossible without the sound.
The camera is a sony DCR-SR32

Are you using Vegas Pro 8.0a?

There is a known issue with importing MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio - you may get video but no audio.

Update to 8.0b. It fixed the problem for me.
