Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default which is better vegas 7 or vegas M studio 8 ?

Hi I have been offered (2nd hand) vegas 7 (not for free) but was thinking of buying Vegas Movie studio 8 if given the choice which would you choose - comments please. I know Movie studio platinum is a cut down ver of the full prog but maybe its still an advance on the previous full ver. 7 ??

Go for the full version (7). So long as the person you're buying from hasn't already used that serial no to upgrade (a serial number can only be upgraded once).
If it has been upgraded the choice is a bit trickier as when/if you ever want Vegas 8/9/10 whatever, you'll have to buy from scratch. If you bought MS8 now you'd probably (if Sony follow the same paths as previously) get an upgrade price.
I'd probably still go for 7 if the cost is low enough (ie less than MS
I can't think of anything in MS8 that would be an advantage over Full 7, apart from maybe the tutorial which are only any use once or twice while you're learning.

I couldn't understand why somebody would buy/obtain something so specialised as editing software, and wouldn't use it because they weren't into editing. To me that is interesting. Oh well, I'll chalk that up to another of life's mysteries.

Grazie
