Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Question Sony Vegas 8 - rendering problems

Hello,

I am a new Vegas user and I am trying to make a file to burn to dvd and then eventually to a blu-ray disk. It contains ~8 HD (1920x1080) movie trailers. Stitched together the trailers only weigh about 667mb. However upon rendering the file it comes out to a whopping 96gb! AND the video quality degrades.

I render using the HDV 1080-50i template, the 1080-60i template, and numerous combinations using the custom template settings. What am I doing wrong?!

Hi Stace,

The problem might be that you are trying to render it as a .avi format. When you render anything as .avi it always tends to multiplies it's size tremendously, and I've learn that it does not necesarily make it better quality.

Try again using the HDV 1080-50i or 60i settings but this time use the .wmv as the format, as you will see the size will not be as much and the quality will still be good.

If you are using a good DVD converting and burning program you should be able to use the .wmv file to burn you DVDs.

I'm a Sony vegas user myself.

Hope it helps, good luck... Danny

Don't wish to piddle on your parade, but WMV is certainly not the best format to render out for DVD. Mpeg 2 should always be the format of choice for DVD. My workflow goes thus - original to AVI then re-render to mpeg2.

I have no experience of Blu-Ray so cannot advise on that.

1] You do not use a WMV to burn a DVD. You burn a WMV file onto a DVD. There is a difference. You use a DVD-burning program to burn a DVD.

2] What DVD player are wanting to play a WMV file on?

3] Why are you electing to use a WMV file for DVD playing?

I don't understand?

Grazie
