Hi I'm new to these forums and I have vegas movie studio 8.0 Patinum edition how do I rotate a video clip on the z axis? So the perspective changes?

You can't is the short answer. As far as I can see you can only manipulate the Z Axis on some of the 3D Transitions. Clearly this will just apply to the transitions rather than a video clip itself.

Having said that, you can apply a clip over a solid colour so that the transition is almost as long as the clip itself. then manipulate the transition on the Z AXIS.

Harder work than true 3D track motion, but try using the Sony Deform effect to create changed perspective.

Doh! I thought I'd be able to get an answer in to someones question for once rather than simply asking questions!

Whilst playing around with my first attempt at blue screen yesterday I had in the back of mind an idea for a project that a friend of mine has asked me to do for his company. Basically they want to put a series of lecturers on dvd and at points it may need some short images/video clips to run silently as the the speaker does his stuff. I thought that having the clips play next to him would work and if I could rotate them in the z axis it would look pretty good. After a while scratching my head I found the Deform and bingo. Altering the 'Amount' setting gives the rotation and playing around 'Squeeze...left' allowed me to give it a slight 3d perspective. It worked perfectly even on my underpowered laptop running vegas 8 pro.
