Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Hi Timstannard,so you looked at my template settings and it was originally lower field first, however when i have my footage in the project media tab,i right clip on any of the scenes/thumbnails,select properties and there it displays format as pal dv and upper field first,,that's why i changed my template render to upper field first, just so that the render matches the format,i suppose i was clutching at straws just to get a decent picture and it worked, going on what you wrote in the above post,it shouldn't work but it does, strange.

I just looked at the link/post in sony creative software forums, the first post and the guy is using a DCR-SR50Ecam which is very similar to mine and he was or still is having the same problem as i was so i'm gonna join that forum aswell and tell him what i've done with template settings.
My source/camfootage is mpeg-2 format,is this not classed as dv ? The clip properties definately say dv,HOWEVER when i use the same footage in Pinacle Studio 11 is says my clip properties are mpeg-2 !! So something somewhere is wrong, but my picture is now good !
Anyway thanks for your help and research....Paul.

The only thing I'll contribute further here is that mpeg-2 is NOT the same as DV, and I'm surprised Vegas is showing it as such.
As I say the rest is all stuff I now know I understand.

When you find out, please post back!
