Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default J-cuts and L-cuts

Can anyone tell me,using vegas 8, how to do j-cuts (where the audio from the next scene comes just before the video) and L-cuts (where the video from the next scene comes just before the audio) ? eg if i was doing a J-cut i need to trim the audio track only slightly or video slighty for an L-cut,i can only seem to trim both .

That's because the Video and Audio are still "Grouped".

You can, after selecting Event:

1/- Hit the UNGROUP Icon up there on the Toolbar

OR

2/- Hit "U"

OR

3/- Right Click > Group> and select "Remove from" and then fold back the video or audio portion.

Don't forget to reverse out afterwards - otherwise you WILL be all over the shop!

Grazie

Worry not, it still is. Hasn't changed in VP8.

Rollover the "Ignore Event Grouping Icon", I suggested above, you will see this command. Very useful if you need to pick out a KeyBoard command from an Icon. Most, not all, icons have this information - the "Envelope Edit Tool" doesn't.

Might I also add, while we are on the subject of KB commands, most Menu Commands have a tiny underline under the KB command "letter" which you can use, in conjunction with the ALT key, to execute the same command. Amazing! Oh yeah, the ALT key IS on the KeyBoard - it has the letters "ALT" on it - it is located next to the SPACE bar. The Space bar is the long thin bar at the very bottom of the KeyBoard - well, it is on mine.

Best regards,

Grazie
