Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Important Quesion

When I am using my Sony Vegas 7 I try to use video effects and it only applies it to half of the screen. How can I make it apply to all of the video? Let me know. Thanks a lot!

Matt

When I put the clips in the video track, put my audio in the audio track, and then try to put video effects from the media effects tab, it lets me put it it in, but the effect on affects half of the video. I have no way to show you right now because I am at work but, let's say that I put a light rays effect on the video clip, the light rays will only show up on the right side of the screen. Any ideas?????????

Check the pan and crop settings, you might have set wrong.

Also, I moved this out of the comp forum and into the vegas forum

Well, I don't think it's Pan/Crop because those settings are fine, I used the Pan/Crop all the time and they are working correctly. It's the media effects that won't work right. They only affect the right portion of the screen. Someone must have ran into this at some point. Anyone..............??

Betcha gone and hit the Fx Bypas Icon.

It's up there on the Video Preview Window's Toolbar. It's the one with the CIRCLE within a SQUARE? What you can see there is the square is kinda cut into 2 halves . . . There are several settings for this:

* Clicked ON for "Fx Bypass" and you get the half that is selected right/left and "ALL"
or
* Clicked OFF and the for "Fx Bypass" and you get the half that is selected right/left and "ALL" is not selected

One of these WILL get you the same result. In any event, Fx Bypass will show you left or right bypassing IF that option IS selected.

There is another option and that is to DIRECTLY draw a USer definable area DIRECTLY onto the Video Preview Window - that's a LEFT drag over the space.

There are other options like selecting that which you have copied to clipboard - neat if you are wanting to do colour correction FROM another event and you want to correct TO or AWAY from that Event.

Click on that Icon! Betcha that's it . . .

Grazie
