I'll assume your using sony vegas studio so it might be diffrent, look at your preview screen, you'll see an icon shaped like a disc, hoover over it it should say save snap shot or somthing simular.

Your Preview window will have a small "Floppy-Disc" icon. Click on that, and whatever is IN the Preview window at THAT time will be saved - a PNG or a JPG - to your hard drive.
Also, to take the best advantage from your investment in Vegas Movie Studio (?), do as others do and use the SEARCH info within the online help. You will find a neat answer to your question and other fab information: Go >Help > > Contents and Index > Search
Try it out now! Enter the word "snapshot".

" Ah! yah got me johnny! yah got me!"
Well done CP! Well done ..
My extra point was/is to invite others to use the online help which is fairly robust on simpler stuff. Now, if they can not find a solution OR understand what it saying - been there, done that - then do here.

oh, common sence that isn't to common on here, I know what you mean. At first they might not know where to look. Its like the search function on the board, I stoped answering the question " what software will do ...." and just tell them to do a search. It might piss some off but its the number 1 first post and it gets tiresum.

a simple move to do it is with windows movie maker import your file and then right on the preview screen is a logo for making a snapshot of the frame of your footage.
