0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | how to export video with transparent background
Can someone tell me how and what format is needed to export a video with a transparent background?
I've made a logo that I have move around and spin in place using keyframes. I want to use this logo in future videos without having to mess with all the keyframes over and over. I tried muting all the other tracks and just exporting my logo, but I get a black background. I'm sure this is possible, I just don't know what format I should be using.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Its going to have a black BG, But oddly enough if you use After Effects the black shows up as no back ground, and if you make it in AE the back ground shows up black. Because of this I make "bugs" in AE not vegas, if any one has made it work in vegas I would like to know

I've never used AE. What format does AE export to?

AE exports to the same basic formats (and a few Adobe specific) as vegas, avi, jpeg, xvid, ec...ec... but like I said as soon as you put it in vegas you'll have the black bg again. I just import my file into AE and add the bug there, then bring it back into vegas.

If you render a uncompressed avi, this allows exprting of the alpha channel (transparency). However the file will be pretty big.
What I'd do is render the logo with a COLOURED background - using a colour that is NOT in the logo.
Then when I come to use it, I'd use chromakeying to key out that colour.

I just did the chromakeying thing. that seemed to workout pretty well and keeps the size much smaller than uncompressed avi.
