Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Weird lines in Vegas 6.0 render

Hello most excellent sony users

I am putting together a video in sony vegas 6 and am having lots of fun in the process which is excellent. However i have a small problem when the video renders.
When the video renders and plays back - i notice lots of weird horizontal lines in the new video - when the original clips were perfect (see image attached)

I was wondering what may cause this and also is there a setting I need to use to make sure this doesn't happen?

cheers and regards

Buzz

One word - interlacing.
Much more than one word to explain though. Basically it's to do with pictures being made up of two sets of lines. Do a search on interlacing for much more detail than I can explain.

Long and the short - IF your output is destined to be interlaced (ie it's PAL or NTSC TV) AND you are not zooming on any of the clips using track motion or pan/crop, then don't worry. It's by design and will not appear as such in the output. Bear in mind what you see in the preview window is being displayed on a computer and not on a PAL or NTSC monitor.

Otherwise, in your project properties, set the De-interlace method to Blend or Interpolate (experiment for most pleasing results)
