Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Exclamation Blurring number plates/Faces

Hi there.

I have read the 'Searching for Vegas answers?' sticky and saw number 3. Masking and Cookie Cutter (Blurring something out). I have follwed the instructions in what to do, but when I click on event pan/crop window there is meant to be a tick box with the word mask in the corner. This isnt showing for me, is it because I am using Vegas Movie Studio 8.0? If someone has the correct solution i'd love to hear it.

Thanks, UNI

BTW, Great forum.

Yes. But all is not lost. All this means is that you are limited to the shapes cookie cutter provides.
Put your original clip (event) on track 1 and a copy on track 2.
Temporarily hide track 1 (use the button on the track header)
Add the Cookie Cutter effect to the event on track 2. Select the shape and size you want. Adjust it to SHOW the area you want to blur. If the area to be blurred moves within the video, you'll need to do this a number of times and set keyframes. Add a bit of feather
Add a Gaussian blur to track 2.
Switch off the "hide" for track 1 and Robert is your parent's brother.
