Hmmm . . Three questions bubbled-up when I read your post.
1] - What are your fears?
2] - Why aren't you asking SONY this question?
3] - The nature of NLE software must be THE s/w that has to cross boundaries. It is inherent within this type of s/w that it SHOULDN'T recognise country/region boundaries. Can you imagine if it did?
I have bought software, here, that was imported from the US.
I have bought downloaded s/w.
I have upgraded Vegas from the SONY site.
None - NONE - of this asks where on the surface of this Planet I reside or where I intend to use the s/w, for it to work. They WILL ask me, and I'm assuming for the purposes of marketing and licensing reasons. However, SONY wants to know is what is my preferred language/spoken tongue. So you MAY wish to assure yourself you are getting the release that best suits your vocabulary. NB: I do notice that the word "Colour" has its "u" missing from the ENGLISH version. I keep telling those that might need to know this, but I don't get a response? I wonder why? Maybe you can tell me?
If you really want to stop worrying, ask SONY.
Grazie

If it helps, I bought Vegas 7 (upgrade from VMS6, but it's the full product) boxed from the Sony US site. Arrived proptly via FedEx - probably as promptly as any "standard service" from the UK.
The only slight hitch I had was that I never received the original bill from FexEx for the duty (don't forget that - you'll be paying 17.5% on to of the converted price, but it's still loads cheaper). However, upon receiving a reminder for payment of the duty,it only took one email for a copy invoice to be received.
There are no localization issues - the software works just fine.
All in all it's a more satisfactory experience dealing with US mail order companies (or at least this one) than any of the UK companies I've dealt with (or maybe the saving in cost just gives you a good feeling)

Probably because trigga hasn't actually asked the question he meant to ask which was Has anyone in the UK any experience of buying Vegas from Sony Media Software (US) and if so were there any problems?
He just didn't realise that was the question he meant to ask

The reason I said I was not sure is that Adode and Microsoft sell their software for a higher price in the UK.
