Font and Fx help

ok, so i just started using vegas, and its wicked, but all of a sudden, when i started inserting text, it wouldnt let me calibrate it, like change the font, font size, or posistion of the font, the same went for inserting special fx. so can someone tell me what ive down for it to not show up anymore.
