Tim, if you wanna share Veggies I'm up for that. |
All the veggies would be going one way what with you being the seasoned pro and me the rank amateur. I have no time to experiment, but sometimes I read a tip here or elsewhere and I just HAVE to make time to check it out. If I'm not careful. I'll fall into your trap and need to get my life back!
If I ever come up with a good idea of my own, I promise you'll be the first to receive a veggie.

Hi,
I've created a quick screencast showing how to achieve a grid effect with the same movie using Pan/Crop.
Screencast quite large. How to Create a Grid Look within Sony Vegas |

Gord, your method to create a GRID has much going for it - I like that!
However, from what I understood from our friend here, and viewing the sample and his following comments, it wasn't JUST the option to create a grid that was being sought.
Our friend here was also after multiple sections from the SAME video Event? Pan/Crop and moving the "F" moving wont give it? And that is why I went down the Multiple MASK-ing route. And going down that route then the Parent-Child option is the only one I know of to obscure and layer. The added value of my approach was that one could be assured that multiple sections from the SAME event would, by definition, be in-sync.
Nice Screen Cast!! I watched several times just to be sure as to what were the advantages.

Grazie,
I love the template idea behind your mask method.
I was looking at the Youtube video and noticed the video segments changed, so you had the top two segments from the same clip then another segment with a different clip. The Pan/Crop method allows you to change the clips along the timeline using both methods.
Good stuff Grazie!!!!

"Stretch to fill frame" on or off makes no difference Tim, but thanks for reply. Mode negative or positive also makes no difference, I still cant see below my top 2 tracks in preview. might give it another go later.

Grazie, my lack of knowledge means I'm struggling a bit with your instructions. I'll give it a better shot later and let you know where I'm going wrong.
Gord, I'm doing better with yours after watching the screencast. But I'm pulling my hair out (my lack of knowledge again) with pan and crop. My segments keep moving.
I know why, its because I go back and resize or position a segment after its moved a few second on the timeline. I've done this so many times. Is there a way to reset this? I keep deleting that clip and redoing again :-(
The other thing I make one of my 3 segments turn into another clip on its own, but I can only show that same position. Is there anyway I can position the clip underneath ... if you see what I mean.
Cheers all |

With your pan & crop window open, find the keyframe that has the size & position how you want it. Delete all the other keyframes. Drag the one you want to the left hand side of the timeline.
At least, that's what I do when I regularly screw up the same. No doubt there are better ways.
