| | Two is about ten times better than one imho - after that the returns diminish. Four is an indulgence but I would hate to go back to less.

| | Mark, it's just as well you can't afford TFTs, you'd have nowhere to put your printer, amp, speakers....

| | I grabbed 2 22" widescreens. Stepped up from using one single 17". Words cannot describe.
You can get them for as low $229 now: Newegg.com - Buy Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
I grabbed the ECS "KA3 MVP" MB for the 'rare' AMD 580X CrossFire chipset, which allows you to use dual gfx engines(cards) seperately to drive 4 monitors as a single desktop. Newegg.com - ECS KA3 MVP (V1.0A) Socket AM2 AMD 580X CrossFire ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
I couldn't find anything like it from nvidea while only finding 2 580X boards back in december.
At the time I grabbed a cheap video card figuring I could use it but the docs seem to (vaguely) indicate that they both need Crossfire cards. Does anybody know anything about this standard?
To push these monitors I recommend dual+ core CPU, lots of RAM, and a 512MB GFX card to increase your workload capability tremendously.
Mark W, I'm very curious to hear what hardware you're using to power all of those monitors? |

| | Ah - the doll - well he usually has a dress on - transaction man - been with me many years...
Yes the monitors do make good shelves.
As for the hardware - one (fast for 3d ) is powered by a radeon something or other g card - the other 3 are run by a very old and very cheap quad head matrox in a pci slot - only 2d and only 8 meg of vram per card but works fine for 2d - very very slow for anything else.
I use the fast screen for preview when editing.

| | My 19" TFT turned up yesterday and what a difference (Currently 1x19" and 1x15") so much so 19" number two has just been ordered ....... Although not a brand name the 19" kicks my 15" Sharp TFTs well into touch, and not just for size but for actual PQ | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
