When I export my Vegas project to AVC/MPEG4 and compare it to MPEG2, I notice that video is lighter and the contrast is lower in the mp4 file vs the mp2 and the source file. How can I make the mp4 file come out like the source file?
Is it the encoder that adds this extra brightness? It doesn't look very good at all.

Doesn't anyone else have this problem? I have Vegas installed on different computers, and all of the mp4s I export are lighter than mpeg2s.

Then I guess its the encoder. I have no need to convert to mpeg-4 so I can't help you.

Hi!
Let's start with an easy one! Please tell me what are you viewing the MP4 on? What viewing software?
Grazie

I use VLC Media Player to view both on my PC.
I also use these files to mix music videos using DJ software and output to projectors and plasmas in night clubs.
Mark, let me know what kind of results you get.
