Hello, I am new to the forum. I am Elk and I hope I can get along well with other members.
Now, I have posted this thread for help with a video I am trying to edit.
The entire editing process is done actually and all I need is the rendering. I have successfully rendered one version of the file, but I am facing difficulties trying to get the other (shorter) one rendered.
Here were some problems I faced:
1st attempt: Tried rendering in .avi (which is what I want), but it loaded WAY too long + when it finished, it took almost 20gb (this video is only 8 minutes long, 720x480).
2nd attempt: Tried rendering in .mov, got the same thing.
3rd attempt: Closed + Opened Vegas again; Tried to render video in .avi again. This time, it only took 1gb (that is ok with me), but when I previewed it, the rendering looked like it got chopped up (audio and visual) real bad.
If anyone knows what the problem is and can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Computer Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 HT Processor
200gb HD
512mb RAM
If you need any other specifications, Ill give em to you.
I am also running Sony Vegas 7.
-Elk

Well since your using vegas I'll give it a shot.
first thing what is the intended outcome, dvd, web stream, you tube ec....
What is your field order, upper first, lower first, none-progressive... change it to none if set to lower or upper and see what happens. As far as the size is concerned it all depends on the bit rate setting.
try getting a screen shot of you render settings that would help out a lot.
I think you'll get a long fine here, just remember that the comments on this forum are ment to help not hinder ( some people take things a little to hard )

1. The intended outcome is to post it on YouTube, but I have VirtualDub to compress + resize the file. Unless you can tell me how to compress and do all that using Vegas alone, that would be good
2. I'm not very familiar with Vegas, so I don't quite understand by what you mean by 'field order'.
3.
I think this is what you want...
I hope this will be everything you need to help me |

Ok, your rendering to dv, try rendering to WMV at 1 meg bit rate and see what you come up with. If the file is still to big try 512kb bit rate.
