Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

How do I do the effect, on movie studio edition, where right in the middle of video it freeze frames, then goes back to regular video play?

VMS doesn't have Velocity envelopes. So you can't FREEZE frames , but you CAN insert a still of the frame under consideration.

This is what I do in VMS:

#1 - View Project at PROJECT size ( right click on Preview Screen and select "Display at Project Size")

#2 - Locate WHERE to freeze.

#3 - HIT the "S" Key.

#4 - Create a still by clicking the Floppy Disc Icon on the Preview Screen. NAME and Save as a either a PNG or JPG.

#5 - Open up the gap where the SPLIT was made and plop in the "Still" or frozen image.

Some aesthetic tips - you might like 'em!:

A) - As this is frozen in time, try desaturating to BnW ( Black and White) FX.

B) - Try Dissolve-IN and Dissolve-OUT thru' a flashed white dissolve. This makes emphasise and a just a bit more classy!

C) - Try Threshold FX this will give emphasis too!

D) - As you going to get an abrupt STOP, you may wish to split off a tiny section just PRIOR to the first split, hold down the CTRL key ans SCRATCH this tiny section. This will show the last few frames BEFORE the initial split slowed down. You could even try this on the "other" side of this freeze section to EASE the viewer back into the normal speed.

Hope this helps!

Grazie
