    Default motion tracking in vegas?

    hey all,

What I am doing right now - painfully manually - with 'track motion' is this:

    - shoot a track of s character in a 3d world
    - create a track of the face only with a green screen
    - animate that face in another application
    - bring that face back into vegas on another track
    - chroma key so that face is ON TOP of the original

as the character moves around in the first shot, i use track motion to create keyframes to line up the head of the newly imported one with the old head. it's a painful and time consuming process -

does anyone know of a automatic motion tracking method to do this? i have seen a plugin called BORIS FX but for the life of me coulnd't get the demo to do what i wanted - anyone have a tip to save me years of my life and some hair?

    Cheers,

    Telemole

Not sure how your tracks are working but using parent -child relations in motion track can help reduce work.

Have a look at this tutorial, you will need to register (free) and there's lots more stuff on the site for Vegas

VASST : Free Resources sorry wrong one but still a handy utility

thanks for the resources - that is handy for sure!

I am still hoping that someone can detail the process i describe above though. Anyone have any idea how to motion track one frame and apply that motion to another frame?

ie. something like a dot moving in track - that motion is applied to track 2

    anyone? :(

STill not sure what it is you are describing, any picturs to show. You can right click a key frame and copy and paste elsewhere.

this is a great example of what i am talking about - wondering if anyone has a method for doing this outside of a plugin...

    FX Animated Demos

have a look at the tracking demo

i want to apply the motion captured to a greenscreened video clip that i have - and lay that over top -
