Best way how to insert sills into the timeline

I always have problems inserting stills into my video projects.
Its probably the easiest of tasks,BUT I always end up with nasty interlace effects once exported.
I have a sony 4mp camera and I am using Sony Vegas with video footage from my sony dcr trv16e,both digital formats so there shouldn't be any conflicts at all.

Please help..

Just drop the images on to the time line, if there is dot crawl when viewing then add a bit of Gaussian blur to help remove it
