Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Pan in Vegas so that the size does not change

I am having problems with panning in Sony Vegas 7.

After resizing to the output size, I want to just pan accross to the left hand size of the video loosing some unwanted image on the right.

I just move the frame to the right in the hope to pan to the right hand side of the image, but for some reason the image is being resized. I have tried depressing and releasing both the of the following buttons, and pressing their overide keys, to no avail.
"Lock Aspect Ratio (Hold Ctrl to Override)"
"Size about Center (Hold Alt to Override)"

Here is a video about 7MB showing the problem I am having

Well, that is totally weird! I have not seen this before. It is as if you've got a Track Motion "squish" going on BUT within Pan/Crop.

If I knew any better I'd tell you. But you have me stumped. Maybe you need to reset Vegas with a Ctrl+Shift on opening Vegas. You WILL loose all your settings, but it has to be better than this?

As I said, it is as if you've been able to combine track motion INTO a P/C session. Weird!!

Ah! just done some further research. This was a feature of Vegas4. I just tested it. I can stretch and deform the F frame - Maintain Aspect Ratio OFF - and I get exactly what you have, a deformed output.

You sure you have VEgas7? What build and what version of Vegas7? I'm intrigued . .

Understood. I haven't seen this since Vegas4.

Tim, have you considered the Factory Reset? Hold Ctrl+Shift on firing up Vegas? Is thi8s the first time you've seen this? Have you added any plugin that USES Pan/Crop to do manipulations?

Dear Grazie
Thank you for all your replies

> Hold Ctrl+Shift on firing up Vegas?
Yes! This seems to have worked. I am not sure what setting I had but, it is now working!

Gratefully,
Tim
