Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Shrinking a clip

Hi all,

This is my first post and would like to say its an excellent forum.

I joined up a few weeks back and have been reading up through all the old threads to learn as much as poss.

So I'm a total Vegas newbie. And other than a bit of Windows Movie Maker I haven't done much at all !

Anyway, hopefully a simple one here ....

I have a black background with a green square near the top left hand corner and I'd like to put a video clip in there.

I can use the Chroma Keyer to put a video clip in there but it doesn't shrink the clip so its all visable. Instead you can see just that area. Hope that explains.

Can anyone help.

Oh, and I'm using Vegas 5.

Many Thanks.

Hi Welcome
You dont need to use chromakey for this. Use 'Track Motion'. Put your background on one video track and the clip you want to insert on a new video track above the background track. Click on the Track Motion icon in the track header of your insert track (the blue area on the left). A new window opens and in there you can resize and reposition your insert track to the top left of your background track.

Oh and..... make sure you keep the insert vid inside the 'safe area'. Theres a grid icon above the preview window that will give you a 'safe area' overlay grid to check.

I would just look at the tutorial on vegas. It will probably show you how to shrink your clip.
