Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Rewinding at fast speed

Hello.

I'm on Vegas 7 and I'm trying to rewind at a fast speed. However, I move the line down and the most I can get is 100% (not nearly as fast as I need it: about -400% to -500%).

The only way I can think of is to rewind it, render it, rewind it, render it, rewind it....

I haven't tried this myself but when you insert a video velocity envelope and right click on its 'nodule' you get an option to 'Set To...' and in there you can type in your + or - % values.

Hmm, I tried it and -100% is the most it goes.

Yea it seems it just goes from +300 to -100. It looks like your suggestion of rewind/render/ (4 times!) is the only way to get to -400. PITA tho.

Hmm, seems that right-click => properties and setting the playback rate to 4.000 helps, but I still need to make it go faster.

I guess I'll render it as an uncompressed avi to lose as little quality as possible then do that again...

How fast do you really have to rewind? Check this out: click

With the 4.000 playback rate, one render should be more than enough for ya.

As fas as I know that's the way it's done with any editor, there are always limitation in speeding up a clip, but then you just render it, once you speed it up, as an umcompressed avi. Import it and do the procedure again and again and again.... The only limitation is then the length of you clip.

Been ill for a few days so I missed this. If you look HERE you'll see what I did with three renders. Foward not back, but the same principle.

Just discovered that by Ctrl-Resizing an event you can get an increase of x4. If you also add a velocity envelope (x3) you get a total of x12.

Yep, Ctrl + Resizing is known as 'rubber banding'. Good alternative to Velocity Envelope if you don't want a variation of speed. For example, slow to fast or vice versa.
