Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

As a rule you need to have a codec installed on your pc for vegas to be able to edit a particular source of video.

As with many things it often doesnt appear to be that simple and I am not a codec expert, some one else more knowledgeable may have more to offer.

I suggest installing a codecs that you want to edit if you havent already done this. As a rough guide I find that if something plays in windows media player then I can edit it in vegas, but for some reson I have often had trouble with xvids...

I downloaded gspot to find out which codec i needed, and i installed it but now it made my problem worse. I tried to unistall it by going to my control panel and add/remove, but its not listed there. I forgot what its called because i can't seem to find it on my computer but its still installed. It's something like audio mpeg-3 codec. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it?
