Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers...

Default Making Backgrounds Transparent: Vegas

I'm not sure if this has been answered. I've searched for topics like this 4 pages in and I've read about the blue and green screen stuff but I'm not sure if this is the same thing.

Is there a way in Vegas Video to take video footage that has a black backround and change that backround to transparent so that you can have other footage in that spot?

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuIOJfi7rfY

I plan on making a LOST season 2 opening credits and I wanted to know at the end where the Lost is zooming out and all the faces behind flashing. The Lost title was actually taken from footage where it had a black backround. This person did the effect in Adobe by taking the black backround and making in transparent etc. Can you do this in Vegas?

Sean

I think I figured it out... I used the grey scale channel blend.

Thanks though.

You could add Chroma Key in the effects chain, select black as the colour and do it that way.
