| | | | | Sony Vegas and Media Studio Yep, I know they're not related, but they both fall in the Premiere Alternative bracket in my humble opinion! Post here for Ulead Media Studio or Vegas video problems or pointers... |

I am sure your camera will work fine in sd mode, just do that for now.

If you're out to get a new CPU I'd look towards Intel Core 2 Duo family - they seem streaks ahead of the others at the moment but I've never had any experience of HD editing on them

HD editing on a core duo is a cinch, but rendering times will obviously be longer, quite a lot longer than with sd.

Yep, I;d agree... try something a bit newer (I find that even a P4 2.8GHz won't do raw SD DV editing easily)... if you're really keen / have the money, you could try a dual- or quad-core machine.

dual core is as standard now and a quad-core wouldn't bring any benefit unless the programme is set to use all 4 cores simultaneously.

It appears from stuff on other boards I have read that appeared well informed that vegas can use 4 cores on any number of processors max.
