Referred to as "Picture-In-Picture" this is very easy to achieve in Vegas. . . and some!
Principle of Layering:
You need to get a basic understanding of the Vegas principle of layering:
Track 1 will appear as the top most layer.
Then comes Track 2 then track 3 and so on and so on.
So, what needs to be done is to "reduce" the "F"rame size on track 1 to be able to see it superimposed Track 2. And you would need to reduce the "F"rame SIZE of track 2 to see the content of Track 3.
Think LAYERS!
Now, there are several ways to do this Layer/Frame/Event reduction:
# 1 - Pan/Crop - This will reduce the Frame size of THAT Event. However this comes with a caution: This feature Pan/Crops an Event. Not the Whole Track and there will be a point/position where you will NOT be able to shift the Event into an area you want, because this is a Pan/Crop function. It PANS across a "F"rame area and CROPS a "F"rame area.
# 2 - Track Motion - Here you can manipulate the size, orientation AND "spinning" in 3-D space a complete track. If you want to do stuff at TRACK level this is the function.
#3 - Parent Motion - Now, using this feature you can make subordinate Tracks perform as ONE track. You could have 1 or 2 or 3 or . . many tracks being controlled by this Parent Track "Motion" to group and the spin, zoom away and in close formation. You set this up by making tracks Children of a track above. You could make Track 1 the Parent track and Tracks 2+3+4 children tracks and then engage the Parent Track Icon on Track 1.
Advanced Super-impo! Now, and here's the really exciting feature, you can make Child Tracks of Parents; Group subsets of Children and manipulate ALL this spinning and zooming about media in 3-D space too!
So, many ways to what you WANT to do - PLUS how much further you can go with Vegas!
