I do alot of viedo editting, and I have a Sony Handycam that records widescreen video. It came with software that I can use to capture video, but it's really poor quality software, and I wanna try to use Vegas to capture it but when I try, it tries to squeeze it all into a fullscreen format, which makes it look really bad.

Is there a way to change it so that Vegas can capture widescreen video?

Have you set your project properties in Vegas?. File>Properties>on the video tab select your template (widescreen),Field order, frame Rate Etc

Just check also that the preview window (when you capture) has `Display Square Pixels` selected.
