So you've been lucky enough to get some free webspace from me. Bet your wondering how the hell you can use it now? Well, being a guru of guides, we thought it only fitting to produce one of our celebrate howto's.
First off, you'll need the much loved SmartFTP (free for commercial use). So go download it from the website before we start the guide as you'll need it pretty soon. What are you waiting for? Go get it!
Once you've installed SmartFTP, it's time to connect to the digital-director.com servers. You'll need you username and password (they should have been provided for you by your "welcome" email). Once open, Smart FTP will look somthing like this:
If you can't see the file browser, click on the button in the toolbar. The next task is to enter our ftp address, username and password as follows:
Substitute "a" above for your username. Once you've entered your password, and whilst the cursor is still in the box, press enter on your keyboard. SmartFTP should now connect to the servers and a new window should open.
We can now upload files to the server by placing them in the public_html directory (double click on the public_html directory). You can drag and drop files into the top pane from the explorer window below or an outside windows explorer window:
You can now access your files in the web using http://username.digital-director.com
You can also access additional info about your space including disc space used and changing your password by visiting www.digital-director.com/user and entering the following:
To change your password, click on "user information" then "edit". The control panel also provides access to your web-based email and spam control.
