Deal Adds Hundreds of Hours of Innovative Video Content to blinkx.com's Video Index

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- blinkx, the world's largest video search engine, today announced a partnership with VMIX, a leader in user-generated content, branded entertainment and licensed music. blinkx will index hundreds of hours of VMIX's user-generated and viral video content and make it easily searchable at www.blinkx.com.

Under the terms of the agreement, blinkx users will have access to VMIX's mix of user-generated video content, branded channels and creative tools for capturing and editing video and photos. blinkx users can find the most innovative and compelling viral videos from a variety of different genres like animation, extreme sports, indie short films, pets and animals, travel, and lip synching.

"We are thrilled to partner with blinkx to offer users an enhanced online video experience," said Terry Ash, executive vice president and co-founder of, VMIX. "VMIX has always recognized the power of enabling users the freedom to control the type of content they want to share and enjoy. This partnership combines blinkx's powerful search technology and VMIX's user-generated and licensed content from major entertainment companies like Fox, Sony, Bravo TV and Warner Bros."

"We are pleased to partner with VMIX, adding the broadest channel line-up of user-generated and branded online videos to blinkx," said Suranga Chandratillake, CTO and founder of blinkx. "This agreement further broadens blinkx's index which, to-date includes content from other viral video sites such as AtomFilms, Break.com and iFilm."

As the pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the smartest way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 100 partners and seven million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

About blinkx

blinkx is the world's most comprehensive video search engine. Today, blinkx has indexed more than 7,000,000 hours of audio, video, viral and TV content, and made it fully searchable and available on demand. blinkx's founders set out to solve a significant challenge -- as TV and Garage Video on the Web explode, keyword-based search technologies only scratch the surface. blinkx's patented search technologies listen to -- and even see -- the Web, helping users enjoy a breadth and accuracy of search results not available elsewhere. In addition, blinkx powers the video search for many of the world's most frequented sites. blinkx is a privately-held company based in San Francisco and London.
