Hi all,

I have an upcoming film assignment and I would like to replicate a technique saw in a music video. The video is Day 'n' Nite by Kid Cudi, and the video can be found at:


The technique is the first 15 seconds. I know how to do the silhouette using a green screen and premier pro/ after effects. But its replacing the black with the actual video footage which has me stumped.

Would they have done one on the green screen and another exactly the same on the street and just lined them up exactly, and then just put a transitition between the two? And when the black is being "sucked" backwards, how did they make it follow the roads and walls? hmm....

But any help received would be very appreciated.

Not to worry mate, i found the video on another site.

Unfortunately im a final cut user (apologies for missing the premier/after effects part in your post).

I could achieve the effect easily in Final Cut Pro so i know there are people who will find it just as easy using premier or After Effects <(I would imagine AE would be better for this). Just a matter of waiting (Hope the deadline for this isnt close) lol
