^^^^ they sure do - as a sufferer of depression about every ten years i have been close, and as a psyc nurse it is one of the things we always throughly asses with any new patient.
90% of suicides involve some form of mental illness.

Thats an old piece of research but morbidity rates and prevelances are pretty static for most mental illnesses.
