Default Pan and Zoom

I have been using Pinnacle Studio 7 and am interested in buying Studio Plus 10.

I particularly like the idea of the zoom feature as I'm intending to create a DVD using some high quality scans of old 35mm slides.

My question is this: If I import high quality JPEGs will Pinnacle maintain the resolution? I'm worried that if I import, for example, a 1MB picture Pinnacle may reduce the file size. That would be ok if I weren't zooming, but it wouldn't really be a good idea for Pinnacle to recuce the file size if I want to use the pan and zoom feature.
