Cool Pinnacle 10.5 and Avid Liquid 7

Yes there are bugs with this software I've been stuck using this software since vs 8 trying to learn video editing on my own. I have a file a mile long with tech support. I still find that for it's lack of respect for the buying public a little disheartened. I was hopeing after all these versions they could build a bit better solid platform. I have have to admit that since Avid has taken over there is allot more action and tech support seems to be more trained than in previous calls that I made. I am trying to get into the professional software but with it's steep price tag and my need to keep prices low for customers who want affordable video editing. I am lucky enough to have stuck it out as i find that Avid offers me what I currently need even with all the hassles of calling in to find the problem a solution. Recently they have the answers to the problems and I find them for the most part good to deal with. I like the screen setup for the ease of use and file managment is in my control not the software companies. I like being able to open one control panel and have things set up before I start a job.
Overall I think some critics who have been using the professional software have a hard time with Pinnacle because they can believe this software can do all the things they were previously using three or four pieces of software to do their one job even in the city I live in Local video editors swear by Adobe premier but I just can wrap my mind arround that software. I have used Adobe Photoshop and love it but the video editing software????
Oh well there is my rant for the day Cheers...

I have had a lot of BAD experiences with Pinnacle in the past with my own use of it and the computer support I do in this area for people with video editing systems. As far as I can see nothing has changed. Pinnacle is a crappy company and Avid should just close it down. The bad thing is there is propbably one or two managers in Pinnacle who are responsible for all if it's short-comings. Ya...heads should roll.

Now Ive bought Sony Vegas, and have had a quick play, Pinnacle 10 is really a easy piece of Software to use, its a real shame its not stable enough to use properly :(

I have found myself going back to pinnacle 10 and re doing a few clips using it,

They have the right Formula they just need to get it stable.

I had a hell of a time getting Studio 10 to capture from my Sony IP7 (Micro MV). It would control the tape and start the process, but it initially confuses the camera with a HD one and then throws a wobbly when it realises it isn't.

I tried different patches, 10.1, 10.5, 10.5.2 but it still wouldn't capture.

So I removed the entire program and started to look for alternatives. I then discovered Pinnacle had a BETA patch (10.6) available. So I reinstalled and applied the BETA and it now captures!

I'm now in the process of doing some actual editing, so the Jury is still out...

I’ve owned Pinnacle Studio since version 7 and recently upgraded to version 10 Pro.

What a piece of crap! I’m using it on a Core2 Duo clocked at 3600MHz, 2 GB of DDR2 and an ATI X1900xtx video card, 400GB RAID SATA-II.

This program eats the machine alive and blows up constantly. I have wasted more time working through the app then actually using it.

I bought the upgrade because a current project I’m doing every 2 weeks includes webcasts in WMV, QT, iPod Video, Real and 3G. I thought doing the simple bi-weekly 10 minutes edit in Studio would be beneficial since I can export right out in all these formats.
NOT SO!

This is the type of program that gives the PC its bad name. Real crap programming with loads of marketing sell ontop.

All the export options are limited, the iPod export sounds horrible, scratchy sound and substandard video quality. After the first show, I switched to Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 and completed the entire project in a fraction of the time, including exporting all formats in separate applications that do each one justice.

STAY AWAY FROM STUDIO 10 !!!!

Glad you sorted it with Premiere. This is another sad story in Studio’s ignominious history.

How about this!
I had already done some chroma key fills in Studio10. I was finishing the project in Premier Pro (just bought the upgrade to 2.0, nice and fast!) when on final review I noticed a few dropouts of the background fill and the chroma green was replaced with black. I though this was odd and something I did wrong. I checked the Studio edits and found all looked fine. For whatever reason Studio will NOT seam a Digital Juice background cleanly! It’s a 30 sec background lopped several times. Just for fun, I tried very had to make this simple edit work in Studio10 and it just won’t! I’d like to send Pinnacle a bill for my time lost dealing with their crap program.

It’s the last Studio program I’ll ever buy that’s for sure.

Pinnacle spent so much time and effort incorporating ways of selling additional stuff, they neglected to make the program usable.

Although I didn't experience crashes or freezes when I reviewed / tested the software, I was rather alarmed at the many "potential" ways to make money.
