Thread: New to Video editing is Pinnacle a good choice?

I am brand new to the video editing world, but I'm looking right now to buy some software to get started. I've heard great things about studio 9, but I heard it will only open mpegs? I'm not sure if this makes any sense to you guys, but the files I want to edit are .vob... I would hate to buy some software that wouldnt support my video files.

I don't even know where to start.
