Question Making A Moving Map

I like to be able to insert moving maps into my videos. For example, if the action moves from Rome to Paris, I would like to show a map of Rome, then zoom out and "fly" to Paris and zoom in.
Maybe even showing a line tracing the route taken! (see ps below!)
Google Earth has this facility - you can create a route and store and play it.
In GE professional it even allows export of this as a movie.
But the quality is very poor.
Google My Maps looks promising - anyone had success with this?
Any other suggestions as to how to do this?
Thanks!

p.s. I have already noted the excellent suggestions for creating a route on a static image - thanks!!

Ok, heres the first idea that comes off the top of my head. You will need some stills of the scene you want at various stages. Start off with the closest pic of Rome, start a pan out on the pic then set a fade to a pic of Rome further out and repeat this process until you have continued your journey to Paris. You could take screen grabs of Google Earth for your stills.

What do you think ?

Could work - but fairly labour intensive!!
Just found the following:
Digital Video Editing Guides: Digital Director - features - Fly to your destination
Going to try that - though another bit of s/w needed - HyperCam.
Thanks!!

Well done on finding that.

Good luck with your project.

When you say it appears to be fine when checking the file within Studio 11, are you checking the Vob file that Pinnacle created or the captured footage on the time line. Thats if you chose to create a DVD working file ( my preference) and not burn direct to DVD. Sometimes you can get a little blip of corruption when Burning DVD's or even a physical scratch can cause a problem.
