Default When I burn to DVD it cuts the sides of my video off! Please Help!

I have just finished my first lengthy project using Pinnacle Ultimate 11.

The captured footage I'm working with has been filmed in 16:9 - and this is how it is displayed on the preview screen during editing.

However when I encode it onto DVD and play it on my widescreen TV, it plays full screen and cuts off some of the picture from both sides of my video.

In the "make file" tab of the settings screen, it is set to 720x576 and it shows that it is set to uncompressed frames. - I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem... but thought it might help.

Please help, as this is a wedding i have done for a friend and I don't know how to fix it!!!

Default Filmed in 16.9 but has cut sides to 4.3

Hi Dropzone,
Studio 11 and Version 10 as well decides that the first clip in your

will decide the record format. Therefore if you record your footage

on your camcorder in 16.9 format, any Title or 'Run-in footage

added to the start of your production must be in16.9 format as

well. If you have made for example a 'Wedding Title' at the

beginning of your film using a standard 4.3 format, this then

has decided that Studio will format the whole production in 4.3.

Hope this has explained your problem.

Best regards Snobbie45

I'm guessing that you're encountering what's known as "overscan"

Rather than type a lengthy explanation of what it is and why we have it, best to just read the relevant wikipedia entry:

Overscan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EDIT: Many NLEs have guides that you can display on preview windows/title generators that show the "title safe" and "action safe" areas. In other words, the screen area for your titles and footage that should be safe from overscan.
